The Green Life Online invites farmers to enter photographs to the 1st Annual Photography contest!
UPDATE 7/9/12: THE CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED TO SUBMISSIONS. WE WILL HAVE FACEBOOK VOTING LIVE SOON, and will give each entrant ample warning, so you can fire up your crowd to vote! STAY TUNED!
What to enter: We are looking for extraordinary images of farms, CSAs, or farmers markets from anywhere in the United States that depict their unique character, essence, or natural surrounding.
We are interested in all types of photographs that showcase the essence of farming, including but not limited to farmland/landscape, fruits of your labor (no pun intended), bustling farmers markets, or employees at work (with their permission of course). Show us something different, maybe how you saved on water usage because of a new irrigation system, or the results of your switch to organic fertilizer! Ultimately, be creative and have fun!
Categories: Photos should be submitted into one of four different categories. The categories are landscape, produce/products, livestock and farm life. Sample category photos can be found on this webpage.
How to enter: Photographs can be submitted in the following ways:
1) Twitter – tweet a link to the photo to @greenlifetweets with hashtag #photocontest
2) Email – send the photo firstname.lastname@example.org in jpg format
Please mention which category each photo fits, or we reserve the right to assign your photo to a category.
Eligibility: Submitted photos must be original. Farmers may submit up to four photos in total, one for each category. All photos must be submitted electronically. No computer modified or altered photos, except for cropping.
Judging: The photos will be screened by The Green Life, and the ‘finalist’ photos will be posted to facebook. These final photos will be judged by our subscribers, who will be able to ‘like’ each final photo. One photo from each category will win based on having the greatest number of ‘likes’.
Deadlines: We’ll accept submissions until July 4, 2012, at 11PM Eastern time. Facebook ‘voting’ will go for seven days, a period to be announced. The Green Life judges reserve the right to make final judging decisions.
Prize: The winning photographs and farm will be featured on our blog and to our 10,000+ email subscribers. We will also use the winning photos as cover photos for our facebook page for the month of July! The winning photographers will receive one of four prizes, including a Back to the Roots Mushroom Kit, a “Salem Sack” and a $25 gift certificate from Savorii, and a $50 gift card to Brookline Booksmith (redeemable online from anywhere!).
Your rights: By submitting your photograph, each contestant agrees to these rules and grants permission to The Green Life Online to use the photograph on the Internet in support of its mission. If a person is recognizable in the photo, you must obtain permission, or if the person is under 18, the subject’s parent or guardian can provide permission to TGL upon request.
